One of the important factors with getting the most web traffic is to start building your link popularity today. The search engines find that websites with more links pointing to them are more favored and thus receive more traffic. So you want to somehow make other sites link to you to make your link popularity higher, and then you will receive more traffic from sites like Yahoo and Google.

It's pretty easy to start building your backlinks. And, you can even find free methods to do so, like the one detailed below. Of course, there are paid methods as well. But if you are just getting started, it's a good idea to do it on your own at first to get used to how things work.

Using the blogosphere to help build your link popularity and backlink profile is a perfect way for a beginner to get started. Because there are so many blogs out there, you're sure to find somewhere to post to. And because the internet is "on" 24-7, it's just a matter of getting going.

So first of all, go to Google and click the 'Blogs' link at the top. You're going to put in a keyword that is about the topic of your site. After that, Google will give you a list of all blogs that have articles about the topic, and you'll go to them.

Commenting is always available on blogs. So to build links, you'll read the article to make sure it's relevant to your website. Then you'll find the 'Comments' link and add a comment about the blog post.

In the comment area, there are usually three areas to fill out. These are Name, URL and email address. Make sure the URL field has your complete website URL in it so you actually get a link from the blog you are posting a comment on.

Next you leave your comment in the larger text box. You'll not want to "spam" the site by leaving what is basically a promotional message for your own site. If you do that, the blog owner will probably mark it as "Spam" and it will disappear.

Ensure that whatever comment you leave, it's relevant and useful. Read their article and if you have another point to add, do so. You can also ask a question or compliment the blog author.

After your well thought out and interesting comment is written, post it. There are some blogs where your comment will show up right away. Others will make the blog owner approve the comment first, and you may get a notice that your post is in the moderation queue.

Go through all the blogs listed in Google's blog search that you found on your topic. Leave comments on all that you can that are relevant to your topic. The more blogs that you leave comments on, the more you are building your link popularity.

This is a simple, free way to being immediately begin building your link popularity today. If you repeat the process weekly, or even daily, you'll find new blogs listed for you to leave comments on. By repeating this process on a regular schedule you'll be able to build your backlinks over time.
